Directed by Gabriele Muccino, The Pursuit of Happyness is a classic American biographcial drama film filled with aggression, passion, emotions and love. Will Smith has precisely depicted the true appearance of a father struggling towards success for his family.

A bright and talented, but marginally employed salesman Chris Gardner struggles to make ends meet, after failing to sell portable bone density scanners in which he had invested all his money. Chris however plans to step in a prestigious brokerage firm called Dean Witter for a 6 month internship after encountering a stock broker with a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS. He meets Jay Twistle, a manager for Dean Witter, to whom he applies for a position as a stockbroker, and impresses him by solving a Rubik’s Cube during a shared taxi ride. Chris feels the positive aura that this journey would definitely lead him to the positive side.

Being a failed salesman, Chris Gardner has a strong faith in overcoming challenges and barriers in his life to live an actual American dream. The movie shows a good side and a stressed side of a struggling father who faces critical phases inorder to keep his son towards the brighter side everyday, providing him all the positives he could.

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) - Movie Review

Jaden Smith has played a truly fantastic role of a child walking on the footsteps of his father. Both Will Smith and junior have showcased an excellent combination of a dad and son living through hard times with a positive fantasy in the mind, while maintaining good social relations with the people around.  Will Smith’s sincere performance has elevated The Pursuit of Happyness above mere sensational dramatic piece.
